I’ve been working and volunteering in the social profit sector for over 25 years. I’ve learned a lot during this time and experienced just about every aspect of fundraising and social profit leadership that you can imagine. From working as a caller in a tele-fundraising program in the mid-90’s to serving in my most recent role as President and CEO of the Calgary Health Foundation, I have gathered a fair amount of experience from which to draw.

For many years I worked in post-secondary fundraising. I worked in annual giving /direct response marketing, managed portfolios of donors and prospects, developed and implemented successful fundraising campaigns, and worked in communications, marketing, and partner relations. I’ve learned that social profit organizations require well-developed fundraising strategies in order to amplify their impact. 

As the President and CEO of the Calgary Health Foundation, I gained valuable insight into the inner workings of healthcare fundraising. I learned how to navigate partner relations, collaborate effectively with boards in order to foster excellence and innovation, and how to lead teams towards concise and deliberately established goals. A carefully considered vision is crucial for fundraising success. 

I value honesty and authenticity in all my interactions. A team that cannot communicate their shared values will struggle to accomplish their objectives. That’s why I encourage a “straight-shot” approach to fundraising - one where collaboration and integrity work hand in hand to achieve outcomes.
